On Friday, surrounded by family, teammates, and coaches, DCS Senior Running Back Deandra Young signed his letter of intent to attend and play football at Louisiana Christian University. DD leaves big shoes to fill as he became the All Time Leading Rusher in DCS Football History this past season. The Gator Family wishes him well as he transitions from playing on Fridays to playing on Saturdays. 💙🧡🏈 #GatorPride

Congratulations to the DCS Varsity Boys basketball team on advancing to the 2nd round of the LHSAA 2024 Basketball Playoffs! The #16 Gators defeated the #17 Thrive Academy Bulldogs 55-44 and will travel to Metairie on Tuesday to face #1 Crescent City Christian School. Tip Off is 6:30 Tuesday and admission is $10.

It is our pleasure to announce and introduce our new Head Football Coach, Storm Ridgway. Coach Ridgway is a Richland Parish product having been raised in Start, La and currently resides in Rayville, La. He has been the Head Baseball Coach at DCS for 4 years and has spent the last 3 seasons as the Offensive Coordinator. Coach Ridgway’s previous coaching experience includes stops at Beekman Charter, Caldwell and Neville Junior High. He and his wife, Jessica Ridgway, have 3 children… Deacon (11), Ava-Tyler (7) and Gatlin (1). They are proud members of Start Baptist Church. “I'm just excited about sitting down with every player and coach and selling my plan for the program going forward. Having been on staff, the familiarity is there with the kids so it is just a matter of tweaking some things and continuing to move the program forward.” - Ridgway When asked about the promotion, Coach Ridgway was very passionate in his appreciation of his former and current players for both Baseball and Football. He stated that if it were not for them and their success he would not be stepping into this new role. He also would like to thank Board Chairman, Mike Martin, Board Member Doug Craig, Headmaster Brett Raley and Athletic Director Chad Clark. He wanted to also compliment them on the interview process and how detailed the search was. “I believe the most humbling part of this is that Coach Raley has been with this program since its inception. And to have him tell me that I was selected to carry the torch for Gator Football means the world to me. That was truly a unique moment for me just as a person.” - Ridgway

They represented our school well!

Playoff Basketball Time! The #16 ranked DCS Boys Basketball team will host #17 Thrive Academy on Friday at 6pm at The Indoor Swamp. Doors open at 5:15. Tickets $10 at the door.

DCS Track and Field competed at LHSAA State Indoor State Championships on Saturday February 17. Tayven Carter placed 2nd in the Triple Jump Kimrey Thomas placed 3rd in the Shot Put Keidron Thomas placed 6th in the 60 meter dash Congratulations to our Gator Athletes!

DCS Senior Betas hosted a STEM day for the Kindergarten Gators. It was a fun day of learning. Students learned how to make slime, fished for numbers, made jellyfish, created rain in a jar, among many other fun learning activities!

GATOR BASKETBALL Tomorrow's home game vs Tensas will be the last game of the regular season. There will be one boys game at 6pm. We will recognize our Girls and Boys Senior Basketball Players before tip off. Please come out and support! 🐊🏀🐊🏀

DCS was represented well at the D’Arbonne Woods Invitational this past weekend. Kaden Sauseda placed 2nd with an 800 lb total. The next meet will be the boys north regional championship; which will take place in 2 weeks.

Dcs track and field athletes Marcus Carter, Tayven Carter, Deandra Young, Kiedron Thomas, and Kimrey Thomas all competed February 3 at LSU indoor stadium for a chance to qualify for the LHSAA indoor track championship February 17. Marcus Carter 4x200 meter relay, Tayven Carter 4x200 meter relay, long jump, and triple jump, DD Young 4x200, long jump, Kiedron Thomas, 4x200 and 60 meter dash, and Kimrey Thomas shot put. Tayven Carter placed 3rd in the triple jump, breaking the DCS school record and registering the 57 best triple jump in the nation at 45 feet 6.5 inches. Huge congrats to all that competed.

Gator Basketball Senior Night We will celebrate Senior Night at the Indoor Swamp Thursday, February 8 at 6pm prior to the Boys Final regular season game vs Tensas. Although the girls won't have a game, we will also recognize and celebrate our Senior girls before tip off. Please come out and support.
